You've got the calendar, now read the book

For the past five years, the Hope in Shadows project has provided 200 cameras to residents of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, giving them the opportunity to document their lives through an artistic medium.

Compiled from the contest’s archive, this book reveals the personal stories behind the photographs, and the result is more dignified and truthful than bleak and hopeless.
