Print edition of Granville magazine suspended

Hello, Granville readers,

Thanks very much for all your support over the past two and a half years, but with the Winter 2009 issue, the print edition of Granville has suspended publication.

Launching a new magazine is always an uphill battle, and an unsettled economy has added to the challenge. In anticipation of better times ahead, we plan to resume publication in fall 2010.

Meanwhile, the Granville website is still going strong under the capable and enthusiastic direction of our digital editor, Hilary Henegar.

Editor, Granville

I'll miss Granville Magazine as I've enjoyed every print issue since it launched. With the hardcopy I could pass it on to a friend when there was an article I thought they would find interesting. I hope 2010 brings many advertisers and better times.

why do defunct magazines always say they're going to continue online or comeback soon? Granville was born out of shoddy market research, not any actual need. Die with dignity and just stop.

Why not paid subscription? I'd think it would give you more liberty to do unbiased reporting.

Maybe you can build up an audience (and revenue) on your YouTube channel. In any case, I'm a print graphic designer and yes, the industry is smashed. Unfortunately it's not just a recession thing, but a whole shift in the way we get information. And printed magazines just aren't sustainable no matter how well they're recycled.
